The Government is in the process of laying down the procedure for
empanelment of retired officers as the Inquiry Officers for conducting
Departmental Inquiries by the Cadre Controlling Authorities. The
services of the Inquiry Officers could be utilized by the
Ministries/Departments and their subordinate offices/organizations under
the Government of India for conducting departmental inquiries against
the delinquent officials, as and when the procedure is finalized.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply to a question by Shri Om Birla in the Lok Sabha today.
